Legal and Court-Related Psychiatric Services
Connect Integrated Health Services (CIHS) is committed to providing high-quality mental health care in a confidential, ethical, and professional manner. However, it is important for all patients, clients, and users of our services to understand the limitations of the scope of care we provide, particularly regarding legal and court-related matters.
No Legal or Court-Related Psychiatric Evaluation Services:
CIHS does not provide legal or court-related psychiatric evaluation services or testimony. This includes, but is not limited to, evaluations or professional opinions intended for use in the following:
- Criminal or civil court cases
- Child custody disputes
- Worker’s compensation claims
- Disability claims (including Social Security, insurance, or FMLA)
- Competency or fitness-for-duty assessments
Agreement to Non-Use for Legal Purposes. By scheduling, attending, or completing an appointment (either in-person or online) with CIHS, you affirm and agree that:
- You are not seeking our services for any court-related, legal, or administrative purposes;
You will not request or expect CIHS clinicians to provide documentation, expert testimony, or evaluations for legal, employment, or court-related matters;
You are not presently involved in or anticipating involvement in legal proceedings requiring psychiatric evaluation or court testimony.
No Legal Advice or Advocacy:
CIHS clinicians and staff do not provide legal advice, representation, or advocacy. Our services are strictly limited to mental health care and do not extend to:
- Legal consultations or recommendations
- Completion of legal forms or reports for court, disability, or employment claims
- Participation in legal proceedings as expert witnesses
Limitations on Documentation:
Any documentation provided by CIHS is intended solely for clinical purposes and may not be suitable or accepted for use in legal, employment, or administrative proceedings. Requests for letters, records, or reports outside the clinical scope may be declined; however, if provided, CIHS is exempt from participating in any legal /court proceedings.
Acknowledgement of Policy:
By continuing to use CIHS services, whether by booking appointments, attending sessions, or engaging in related communication, you acknowledge and agree to the above limitations. If you require psychiatric evaluation, documentation, or testimony for legal, court, or administrative purposes, we recommend seeking providers who specialize in types of psychiatric services.
